This painting is was inspired by the first delphinium I successfully grew in my garden.
Delphiniums are among my favorites. While I have always loved the flower, I haven't always had enough sun to keep them happy. That changed In May of 2024 when a tornado swept through and toppled nearly all my mature trees. Thankfully, no one in town was hurt.
The trees were a significant loss--my privacy and shade were gone in a moment, and a garden I had designed to be my sanctuary was changed forever. After the tangled mass of trees was cleared away, and with a rutted up mud pit as their backdrop, I planted these delphinium as a quiet promise to myself to trust that my garden would be made beautiful again. Progress is being made. I have lawn again and enough sunshine for my new vegetable patch. I can say with certainty that my garden will never be the same. However, I am choosing to be open to whatever new and beautiful work the Lord wants to begin.
Whatever may be troubling you, I pray you find peace and feel God’s presence. He is with you, and you are precious to Him. “Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your hearts before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.” Psalm 62:8
